Modern Drilling Co was founded by Clinton Pickering in Ankeny, Iowa in 2021.

After over a decade of experience in the Horizontal Directional Drilling industry Clint set out to blaze his own trail and build a company of his own. Run his way.

He partnered with the best vendors in the industry. Including Iowa’s own Vermeer Corp, manufacturer of the Directional Drilling rig and tooling. He opted for the best in class locating equipment, the American Made DigiTrak Falcon F5 plus.

Clint didn’t cut any corners, he invested in the highest quality equipment available.

He enlisted the help of men he knew and trusted. He offered them top of market wages, 100% employer paid health care, and an opportunity to build something better for themselves alongside him. He took a gamble, but when you’re a guy like Clint, betting on yourself is a sure thing.

For the last year Clint and his team have committed themselves fully to doing quality work, at a fair price, and above all else making absolutely certain no client was ever left unhappy.

Guided by a set of principles that are too often neglected in today’s world. Principles like honor, respect, and integrity. They have earned the trust and respect of their clients and peers and are considered among the finest HDD Contractors in the area.

I write this on behalf of Clint and the Modern Drilling Co. team for the simple fact that these men are too humble to see their story as I saw it, or describe their character as I witnessed it to be.

For some men doing the right thing is just ordinary, every day life. Integrity is a given and respect for others, ones self, and the trade is non-negotiable.
